    LEADERSHIP vs LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

We can tell the difference between leadership and leadership positions. We can tell them in a structured, detailed, and critical way. There are many leadership positions around us, many of them. They may differ by area or by level. We may find them in our family, our companies, or our professional activities, in our social contributions.

And, if we are not all leaders, we have at least one leadership position. Of course, many have many more than one. Whether we wanted to or not, we have all been involved in leadership positions throughout our lives. Many of these opportunities are unavoidable, no matter how hard we try. But each of them is a potential leadership challenge for us because leadership positions offer us opportunities to develop leadership skills.

If you are a parent, for instance, you are in a leadership position. If a CEO, of course too. Manager at any level as well. Representative of people, yes. Representative of tenants too. And the list goes on. There are lots of leadership positions, but none of them say anything about your leadership or you as a leader. You are judged through results and success, but that topic still lies ahead of us.

Leadership positions can be ranked by the parameters of the strength of your influence on other people, and the number of those people. And we can already start thinking about people who are great leaders but whose positions have low strength. There is also the reverse situation: the position of that leader may have a lot of influence, but there is not enough leadership in the person who holds the position. This is a much more serious case.

Leadership positions do not make a leader, but true leaders can increase the strength of influence of the position they are in.
